A drunken game of softball and a drunken date for prom

I had my eyes opened in the last two weeks. Two Saturdays ago, as a last minute deal, Hannah invited me to play softball on a co-ed team that needed another girl. Thinking it was going to be pretty intense since we were on a team with people at least two or more years older than us, I was a little nervous with my softball abilities that haven't been used since I was thirteen. Not knowing what to expect, Hannah and I showed up there half an hour early to get ourselves prepared for the tournament - 8:30 in the morning. We found everyone there with (at least) one can of beer in their hands drinking like it was nothing! I had no idea people actually mixed sports with drinking let alone at 8:30 IN THE MORNING!

We played four games total that day and won one of them. Needless to say, I don't think that drinking boded well for our team. My worries about my skills were calmed however, because they matched those of my teammates (a good thing? I'm not so sure).

Then, just one week later, I volunteered to go to the Bighorn prom as a double with Darcee. Her date, Demetri, was a friend of Mckenzie's but just needed a date due to lack of interest in the 25 girls he had to choose from. My date, was found through a lot of searching and desperation. Demetri actually apologized beforehand about my date...this made me slightly nervous. When we did happen to meet Woodsy (his real name was Brad) he didn't really talk and when I asked him questions he just gave me short, simple answers. As the dance started, he said he usually doesn't dance until a couple of songs go by, so it was a tad awkward trying to look like I was having fun dancing by myself while Darcee and Demetri hit it off.

I lost track of Woodsy a couple of times, but once meeting up with him, he decided he was ready to dance. This was evident to the smell of alcohol he breathed into my face. When I asked, "Have you been drinking?!" He said, "Yeah, there's a flask in the bathroom that I keep visiting. I'm ready to dance now though." Needless to say again, it was already an extremely long night by 9:15 pm.

Anyways, both experiences turned out to be quite the adventures and made me realize just how sheltered I actually am...which I am definitely sure is a good thing...

i have decided to write my own blog in your comment section until you update. Starting tomorrow I will add a sentence everyday... the title...Erin:as she waits for an update from her sister

Erin said...

What Erin began as just checking in on her sister turned into an obsession quickly.

Erin said...

She would check in once sometimes twice a day to see if her sister might, maybe, just might have typed a quick respond to tell the world she was ok.

Erin said...

Yet, to no avail, her sister did not update her blog.

Erin said...

Somedays, Erin fell into a such a deep depression over the lack of a new blog entry, she didn't even type a response in the comment section.

Erin said...

Erin started to worry that something had happened to her sister; something dreadful must have happened for her not to post!

Erin said...

Or maybe, due to the fact that her last post was about being around drunk people, Alexa got mixed up with the wrong people.

Erin said...

Erin wondered, maybe she should call Alexa, but she shouldn't need to remind her sister to update her blog, should she?

Erin said...

As a responsable college freshman, Alexa should know the importance of keeping her family updated and in the loop.

Erin said...

Or at least one would think a college freshman who is living in the good dorms would be that responsible.

Erin said...

Alas, Alexa must have been enjoying her summer too much to be bothered with the tedious task of writting a few sentences on her blog letting her sister know she was alright.

Erin said...

Erin tried as hard as she could to overcome her new obsessive blog checkeing, but alas, there she was at the computer checking everyday for something new.

Erin said...

She thought she could see a glimmer of hope when she heard Alexa got a new computer, but oh no, the next day there was still not a new post.

Erin said...

Maybe due to the fact that Alexa got a new Mac and not a dependable PC, she could not create a new blog post!

Erin said...

Because we all know that a PC is much easier to use (maybe the apple may be too confusing and Alexa could not figure it out?).

Erin said...

But whatever the case may be, months had passed since the last blog post.

Erin said...

Erin tried desperately not to fall into a deep depression waiting for a new post, but alas, there were a few dark days.

Erin said...

They were so dark that Erin had a tough time going on with her life (although that may have been due to the book she was reading, she wasn't quite sure).

Erin said...

Erin tired going to the movies (the new HP was very good, long, but good), but even after the afternoon trip, there she was again checking the blog for something new.

Erin said...

She hoped she wouldn't have to call her sister and remind her to update her blog!

Erin said...

There had only been 7 posts in the seven months of the year 2009.

Erin said...

Which would average to one a month, but Alexa had been an little more diligent at the beginning of the year than towards the middle.

Erin said...

Maybe that was because she was in school during the first part of the year, but Erin was leaning towards the idea that Alexa was just not updating to annoy her.

Erin said...

Or maybe she thought it was funny that her sister had nothing better to do than check a blog everyday.

Erin said...

But whatever the case, Erin sure hoped Alexa would update her blog before Erin moved to Arizona.

Erin said...

Even Mike was giving Erin crazy looks as he watched her type while waiting to be feed.

Erin said...

Maybe all that blonde hair dye went stright to her hair and she forgot how to use a computer.
