This semester I lucked out enough to get two of my class periods to be changed to Work Experience in replace of the dreaded AP Biology...It's been amazing, and it makes my day go by so fast. On a usual week I go to Dr. Hoffman's on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and I go to Dr. Moss' on Wednesday. I've had so much fun getting to know all the people that work in both offices. So far the most interesting things I've seen at the dentist's office were a tooth extraction, a root canal, a root cleaning, and a wisdom tooth removal. I usually just watch average teeth cleanings and bug
Taya and Ashley with all of my random questions like "Do people ever stare at you while you're cleaning their teeth? Is it awkward?" or "Did that sound of scratching on a tooth with metal ever bother you?" I've learned so much already. At Dr. Moss', I get to do a lot more hands-on stuff like sterilize tools and help mix molds for retainers. The ladies there are really fun, I already feel comfortable joking around and being sarcastic with them. One day I got to help the assistant take
pre-braces pictures for this guy that is about my age but goes to school in Rocky. It was really weird and awkward because I had to use these metal hooks to pull his cheeks open wider to get a better view of all the teeth. I think he felt a little uncomfortable too, and it didn't help matters that I kept laughing nervously as I was doing it all either. So far though, I haven't seen or done anything that would discourage me to pursue a career that involves teeth!
